Travel - Day Trips.

Places to visit within an easy day trip:

North:

Venice: A 20 minute drive up 775 and US 41 will bring you in to the town of Venice. Items of interest.

Venice Main Street shopping. Arts Festivals. Craft Fairs, Sidewalk Sales, free Friday evening concerts in the gazebo and more. Click here for current happenings.

See a movie at Frank Theatres Galleria 12 or, equally nearby, Regal Cinemas Town Center 16 in Port Charlotte (South of Englewood). Click here for current showings.

Bike, or walk, the path from the Circus Bridge to Caperson Beach alongside the Intercoastal waterway.

Fish off the Venice Pier or enjoy lunch outdoors at Sharkey's by the Pier.

Sarasota: A 1 hour drive on 775 and US 41 through Venice, Nokomis and Osprey will bring you to Sarasota. Items of interest.

Ringling Museum of Art. The John & Mable Ringling Museum is located on 66 acres of land and also houses the Asolo Theatre. Plan for a day's trip. A "Must see".

G.WIZ - The Science Museum. G.WIZ makes science relevant, technology understandable, and learning an interactive adventure. Great for the kids.

Shop and Dine at St Armands Key. Fine shops and excellent restaurants. Our favorite is the Columbia, on the circle.

Mote Aquarium. General admission includes access to Mote Aquarium, the Ann and Alfred E. Goldstein Marine Mammal Center and Immersion Cinema.

Marie Selby Botanical Gardens. a tropical oasis nestled on the bayfront of Sarasota.

Sarasota Jungle Gardens. Sarasota Jungle Gardens features 10 acres of lush tropical vegetation, winding jungle trails and entertaining, educational bird and reptile shows twice daily.

Siesta Key Beaches. Renowned for its gorgeous, crystal-white sand. The sand is 99% pure quartz, soft and cool on the feet. Among the many awards it has earned are: “the whitest and finest sand in the world” (The Great International Beach Challenge, 1987) and “The Best Sand Beach in America” (The Travel Channel, 2004).

SOUTH:

Boca Grande: A visit to Boca Grande should be on everyone's agenda. Check out our page.

Port Charlotte: A 20 minute drive south on 776 will take you in to Port Charlotte. Numerous malls will appease the shopping fanatic.

Punta Gorda: Turn South on US 41 and cross the Peace River bridge into Punta Gorda. Items of interest:

Fishermens Village. Shopping, dining and a marina.

Key West Shuttle. Offering high speed shuttle service to Key West.
